On December 25, 2021, the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University and the Summit on Modernization of National Governance were successfully held. The conference was held in a mixed online and offline format, leaders and experts from the Public Administration Discipline Review Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Steering Committee for Teaching Public Administration in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the National Steering Committee for Graduate Education in Public Administration and other organizations, representatives of sister institutions such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China and Zhejiang University, leaders of the university and relevant functional departments of the university attended the conference. The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by representatives of the School of Public Administration, retired teachers, past members of the leadership team, faculty members, staff and students. The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by Professor Jiang Xiaoping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University.

Professor Yao Leye, Vice President of Sichuan University, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the faculty, students, staff and friends of the School of Public Administration, and warmly welcomed all the guests attended the ceremony. Professor Yao affirmed the achievements of the School of Public Administration since its establishment in discipline construction, personnel training, teaching and research, service to society, and international exchange. He pointed out that in the past 20 years, the School of Public Administration has cultivated a large number of talents for the Party's public management career. He hoped that the Institute would further give full play to the advantages of multidisciplinary integration, achieve high-quality development, enhance its voice and influence in the international public opinion, and make new and greater contributions to writing a new chapter in the double first-class construction of Sichuan University.

Professor Xue Lan, co-convenor of the Public Administration Discipline Review Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and Dean of Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University, expressed his congratulations to the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University. He pointed out that the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University has actively carried out issue-oriented policy research, achieved excellent results in discipline construction and talent training, and made outstanding contributions to the development of public administration discipline construction in China.

Professor Yu Jianxing, Secretary General of the Steering Committee of Public Administrati on Teaching in Higher Education and President of Zhejiang University of Technology and Business, pointed out that the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University has become a major center of public administration teaching, research and social services in China, and has played a major role in promoting Chengdu as the happiest city.

Education in Public Administration and dean of the School of Public Administration of Renmin University of China, called for a focus on the modernization, localization and globalization of public administration, deeper excavation and refinement of innovations in public administration practices in the Chinese context, and to serve the overall interests of high-quality development and modernization of governance with high-quality research results.

Professor Chen Zhenming, Director of the Institute of Public Policy of Xiamen University, pointed out that the development of the discipline of public management is facing new scenarios, new situations, new challenges and new opportunities. Against the background of the unprecedented changes in the past century, the theory and practice of contemporary China and global governance are undergoing dramatic changes. The study of public governance in China must respond to the spirit of the times and the strategic needs of the country, strengthen disciplinary crossover, and accelerate disciplinary transformation and restructuring.

Representatives of the institutions all expressed their congratulations to the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University. Professor Yan Jirong, Dean of School of Government of Peking University, emphasized the importance of maintaining determination, keeping the righteousness and innovation, and making better achievements in the face of modernization and post-modernization. Professor Ding Huang, co-convenor of the Public Administration Discipline Review Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and Professor of the School of Politics and Public Administration of Wuhan University, expressed his enthusiastic expectation that the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University will continue to play its disciplinary strengths in the development of China's public administration discipline and contribute more wisdom of Sichuan University to the modernization of national governance and the rapid, healthy and steady development of China's public administration discipline. Professor Liu Xin, Dean of the School of Social Development and Public Policy of Fudan University, highly praised Sichuan University's public administration discipline for its innovative cross-fertilization and development in a multi - disciplinary environment, based on the building foundation of "useless learning" and the solid foundation of "useful learning".

Representatives of retired teachers were specially invited to attend the celebration. The college showed the highest respect and gratitude to them for their selfless dedication and great contribution to the construction and development of the college.

Professor Pu Xiaohong, the representative of teachers, recalled that the 20th anniversary recorded not only the sorrows and sweetness of the college's construction, but also the dreams and achievements of all the teachers and students. On behalf of all the students, Yu Shibo, a representative of current students, expressed his gratitude and sincere wishes for the 20th anniversary of the college from three aspects: "seeing, cultivating and believing".

Professor Shi Yungui, dean of the School of Public Administration, reviewed the historical origins of the school and its disciplines, and systematically summarized the achievements of the school in terms of disciplines, teaching, research and social services. He pointed out that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the college will continue to fully implement the development strategy of "one body and two wings" and the "five first-class" projects, and dedicate to the 20th Party Congress with more excellent achievements. Finally, on behalf of the College, he expressed his heartfelt thanks to the administration of the Party Committee of Sichuan University, the entire faculty and staff, retired faculty and staff, as well as the institutions and friends.

After the celebration, the "National Governance Modernization Summit Forum" was held. The forum was divided into four modules, which were chaired by Professor Zhang Lei from Northeastern University School of Grammar, Professor Sun Tao from Zhou Enlai School of Government of Nankai University, Professor He Wensheng from Lanzhou University School of Management, and Professor Fang Shengju from Yunnan University School of Government. Each group of speakers had a lively and wonderful discussion on the topic of modernization of national governance from different themes and perspectives. During the forum, the guests and scholars expressed their congratulations to the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University. Combined with the practical experience of each university, they expressed their opinions on the opportunities and challenges faced by the construction and development of public management disciplines in the context of the modernization of national governance, hoping to work together and strengthen exchanges and cooperation, which is of great significance to promote the development of public management disciplines and build public management disciplines with Chinese characteristics.

On the afternoon of 25th, "New Era, New Liberal Arts, New Public Administration", "New Era Social Development and Sociology Discipline Construction", "Dual Synergy between Discipline and Education for Governance", these three academic forums were held. The speakers and scholars made wonderful speeches on specific topics and specialties, and gave valuable suggestions for the future development of the School of Public Administration of Sichuan University. Meanwhile, the representatives of the alumni expressed their gratitude and warm congratulations to the college in the alumni forum of "Talking about friendship, Working together for the future", and showed that they would continuously keep close contact with the college in the future and do their best to make more progress in their respective positions.
